Gran Turismo 5 update 1.03 danni meccanici

OGNI PROMESSA È DEBITO – Giusto la settimana scorsa, il leader della Polyphony Digital Kazunori Yamauchi ha parlato di una nuova patch per Gran Turismo 5 che permette di settare in qualsiasi momento alcune opzioni inerenti al sistema di danni. Come infatti è stato reso noto, in GT5 è necessario superare il livello 40 prima di osservare una risposta più realistica agli incidenti. Beh, da adesso non più.
A partire da oggi 7 Dicembre, è disponibile la patch 1.03 di GT5 che permette di scegliere se giocare con un “damage system” assente, lieve o realistico.

Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix trailer TGS 2012

Square Enix ha rilasciato il primo trailer ufficiale dedicato a Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX, raccolta annunciata al Tokyo Game Show 2012 che include Kingdom Hearts, Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories e i filmati in alta definizione di Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days.

Come si può notare dal filmato seguente, il lavoro svolto dall’azienda giapponese in termini di rimasterizzazione in HD sembra eccellente. Il primo Kingdom Hearts acquista nuova vita grazie ai benefici dell’alta definizione dimostrando inoltre di quanto fosse gradevole dal punto di vista grafico anche su PlayStation 2. Naturalmente per quanto riguarda Chain of Memories, Square Enix ha optato per il porting del remake in 3D dell’originale episodio per Game Boy Advance, e anche in questo caso il lavoro svolto pare straordinario.

Devil May Cry data, immagini e video versione PC

Devil May Cry sarà disponibile su PC in retail e digital download a partire dal 25 gennaio 2013. Lo ha annunciato ieri il produttore Capcom, che ha anche svelato immagini e video tratte da questa edizione, che si differenzierà da quelle PlayStation 3 e Xbox 360, previste dieci giorni prima, grazie a vari miglioramenti grafici pensati per rendere il gioco ancora più gradevole e spettacolare da un punto di vista tecnico. 

Devil May Cry per PC è stato sviluppato da QLOC, studio che ha lavorato con cura certosina alla traposizione del titolo realizzato su console da Ninja Theory (Enslaved e Heavenly Sword in questa generazione). Questa versione è stata realizzata con il pieno supporto alle schede AMD e sfrutta anche le tecnologie AMD Eyefinity e AMD Crossfire per dare la possibilità ai giocatori di spingere fortissimo sotto il versante grafico.

La versione PC sarà compatibile sia con mouse e tastiera, sia con il controller Xbox 360, oltre alle varie periferiche di terze parti che è possibile collegare al proprio sistema Windows. Ci preme sottolineare che Devil May Cry non avrà alcun limite per il frame rate massimo, cosa che è accaduta in passato con alcuni porting da console, come Dark Souls, e chi è dotato di un sistema molto performante potrà portarlo persino oltre i già ottimi 60 FPS. 

Classifica UK #8211; FIFA 11 spodesta Black Ops

SORPASSO CALCISTICO – Dopo diverse settimane di dominio nelle classifiche inglesi, pare che Call Of Duty: Black Ops abbia finalmente ceduto lo scettro ad un altro titolo. Stando infatti ai risultati delle vendite relative al periodo compreso tra il 26 Dicembre 2010 ed il 1 Gennaio 2011, il videogame più richiesto in Regno Unito è FIFA 11, l’ultima simulazione calcistica della EA Sports rimasta a lungo in seconda posizione all’ombra dello sparatutto della Treyarch. In generale, la top ten permane invariata rispetto a quella inerente alla settimana dal 18 al 25 Dicembre (consultabile cliccando qui), fatta eccezione per Gran Turismo 5 che perde una posizione e per il rientro di Fallout: New Vegas nella classifica.

Destiny dettagli, artwork e immagine ufficiale sul nuovo progetto Bungie

I noti portali statunitensi IGN.com e Kotaku sono riusciti a mettere le mani su nuove informazioni e artwork relative a Destiny, il progetto di Bungie, lo studio creatore della saga di Halo, realizzato con la collaborazione di Activision su Xbox 360 e PlayStation 3, con il primo episodio che dovrebbe uscire entro la fine del 2013. Dettagli molto interessanti che dimostrano come Bungie non voglia allontanarsi dal genere fantascientifico.

Destiny è ambientato infatti diversi anni del futuro, con gli umani impegnati in una serie di colonizzazione dei pianeti abitabili (o quasi) scoperti, ma vengono colti di sorpresa da una misteriosa razza aliena, pronta a invadere la terra. Protagonista dell’avventura sarà una specie di cavaliere stellare, che vanta capacità e tecnologie tali da permettergli di viaggiare nello spazio aperto. Non è ancora chiaro se il gioco sarà uno sparatutto in prima persona come Halo o cambierà genere, magari per abbracciare la visuale in terza persona. In ogni caso, l’unica certezza sembra riguardare gli elementi social, inseriti per far sembrare Destiny quasi un MMO: in che forma però è difficile da dire al momento.

In seguito alla fuga di questi dettagli, Bungie ha deciso di rilasciare la prima immagine ufficiale (questa qui sopra) che mostra un gruppo di soldati impegnato su un pianeta gelido affiancati da una possente macchina da guerra.

Il prezzo della PSP2 #8211; Le aspettative di Codemasters

COMPETIZIONE – Ieri Sony ha tenuto un evento sensazionale a Tokyo nel quale ha presentato e mostrato all’opera la PSP2, potentissima console portatile nota anche con il “codename” NPG (New Generation Portable). Tra giochi, caratteristiche hardware, rumor ed aspettative, Sony non ha proferito parola riguardo ad un fattore molto importante: il prezzo! La console portatile è un vero gioiello della tecnologia, magari non performante quanto una PS3 ma quasi (caratteristica ancora da chiarire bene), e di conseguenza potrebbe debuttare sul mercato ad un costo davvero elevato. A tal proposito, la casa di publishing e sviluppo inglese Codemasters rappresentata dal CEO Rod Cousens ha espresso la propria opinione:

“La mia speranza [per il prezzo della PSP2 / NGP] è attorno alle 200£ [ergo 231€], ma sospetto che si aggirerà invece tra 229£ e 249£ [265€ - 288€]“.

Alan Wake The Writer già su Xbox Live

TUTTE LE RISPOSTE! - Come previsto, oggi 12 ottobre è uscito su Xbox Live Alan Wake: The Writer, il secondo DLC della saga di Alan Wake che, finalmente, chiuderà la storia e farà luce su tutti i misteri rimasti irrisolti. Così come il precedente The Signal, The Writer costerà 560 MP.
Nel gioco torneremo a controllare il protagonista della serie, lo scrittore Alan Wake, intento a “riordinare” la propria psiche per sconfiggere il male che lo circonda.

PlayStation 4 e Xbox 720, i veri nomi in codice e nuovi dettagli

Si torna a parlare di PlayStation 4 e Xbox 720, che ormai oggettivamente non sappiamo più come chiamare visto che oggi diverse fonti riportano nomi in codice differenti rispetto quelli precedentemente noti, rispettivamente Orbis e Durango. SemiAccurate segnala infatti, basandosi su fonti interne affidabili, che la nuova Xbox sarà alimentata da un processore AMD con nome in codice Oban, la cui messa in produzione sarebbe dovuta avvenire entro la fine del 2012. Tuttavia, alcuni problemi in fase di progettazione pare abbiano costretto al rinvio. Il sito spiega inoltre come il vero nome in codice di Xbox 720 sia Kryptos, e non l’abusato “Durango” che si diceva fosse utilizzato in Microsoft.

Per quanto riguarda PlayStation 4, anche qui c’è una modifica al nome in codice: viene chiamata Thebes, non Orbis.

Xbox 360 ecco il cloud storage

Microsoft ha ufficialmente lanciato il cloud storage, anche se al momento in misura minore per Xbox 360. Il nuovo servizio, annunciato nel corso dell’E3 2011, permetterà agli utenti di memorizzare i dati del proprio account gamertag, compreso di file di salvataggio, obiettivi sbloccati, Microsoft Points e Lista Amici in un server cloud realizzato da Microsoft, così da poterli trasportare semplicemente da una console all’altra senza l’utilizzo di accessori extra.

L’obiettivo di Microsoft è proprio questo: dare l’opportunità ai suoi giocatori di potersi ritrovare il proprio profilo con relativi obiettivi, salvataggi e lista amici anche su altre console semplicemente scaricandolo sulla nuova macchina, senza dover dunque operare fastidiose operazioni di trasferimento dati, nonché in molti casi lente e poco accessibili.

Intel Ships Multi-Core Server Platforms

Intel Corporation today announced the availability of its first dual-core, hyper-threaded Intel Xeon processor for dual processor servers. The new processor helps to improve the performance and response time of multi-threaded server applications.

"The availability of our first dual-core Intel Xeon processor server platforms accelerates the delivery of Intel's aggressive multi-core server roadmap, giving CIOs and IT managers innovative new technologies and capabilities to help grow and transform their business," said Kirk Skaugen, general manager of Intel’s Server Platforms Group.

The new dual-core Intel Xeon processors are expected to help improve the performance of today's dual processor, 64-bit servers by up to 50 percent. Early next year, Intel plans to deliver a new server platform, codenamed "Bensley," consisting of a dual-core Intel Xeon processor, codenamed "Dempsey," a chipset, codenamed "Blackford," and integrated technologies to help improve manageability, IT productivity, and performance of servers in the data center.

Premium server platforms based on the new dual-core Intel Xeon processor are available today. The forthcoming Dual-Core Intel Xeon processor 7000 sequence for multi-processor servers, codenamed "Paxville," is expected to be available in the next 60 days. Over the next few months, servers and workstations based on both platforms are expected to be available worldwide from system manufacturers including ASUSTek, Dell, Egenera, Fujitsu Siemens, Gateway, HP, HCL Infosystems Ltd, IBM, Kraftway, Lang chao, Lenovo, Maxdata, NEC, Samsung, Supermicro, Unisys and Wipro Infotech.

In addition to delivering multi-core processors, Intel will integrate a host of technologies into the silicon including hyper-threading technology, virtualization, security, and management technology. Dual-core processing, combined with Intel Hyper-Threading technology (HT), which allows one core to function as two "logical" cores, enables vast increases in the amount of work a processor can do in the same time as a processor with one core. With HT technology, one dual-core processor is able to simultaneously run four software threads. As more processors are added to a server, the number of supported threads increases to help deliver even better overall performance.

The new dual-core Intel Xeon processor runs at 2.80 GHz with an 800 MHz system bus and 2 MB of Level 2 cache per core and will use the Intel E7520 chipset. Since each core is equipped with its own cache, the amount of traffic on the system bus is reduced and each core has faster access to data. Other features include Intel EM64T, HT technology, Execute Disable Bit, and Demand Based Switching. Servers based on these processors are well suited for applications such as web server, infrastructure and email.

The Dual-Core Intel Xeon processor 7000 sequence for multi-processor servers is expected to run at speeds up to 3.0 GHz and includes a new chipset, the Intel® E8501, to support an 800 MHz system bus and support for the existing Intel® E8500 chipset. The platform will also include a dual, independent system bus, DDR2 Memory, PCI Express, memory RAID and I/O technologies. Initial preliminary testing resulted in up to 60 percent performance improvement over previous generations.*** These server platforms are targeted at mid-tier enterprise applications such as database, financial services and supply chain management.

Intel plans to deliver three more server platforms to round out its initial dual-core server and workstation portfolio. Later this year, Intel will ship dual-core Intel Itanium processors. In the first half of 2006, Intel is expected to deliver a volume dual-core Intel Xeon processor platform and ship dual-core Intel Xeon processors designed for systems requiring low power consumption. All of these systems are currently shipping as evaluation platforms to customers.

The Dual-Core Intel Xeon processor 2.80 GHz is available for $1,043 in 1,000-unit quantities. Pricing for the forthcoming dual-core server processors will be provided within the next 60 days.

High-tech gadget show opens doors in Vegas

The International Consumer Electronics Show kicked off on Tuesday with a dazzling array of high-tech gadgetry including ultra-thin laptops, snazzy smartphones, iPad rivals and flat-screen and 3D TVs.

A record 3,100 companies from around the world have staked out booths in the cavernous Las Vegas Convention Center for the four-day event, displaying their wares over a space equivalent to more than 35 football fields.

The latest in TV technology is also on display as mostly Asian manufacturers show off OLED sets and make another push to bring 3D TV into the home.

Tim Baxter, president of Samsung Electronics America, said half of the TV models sold by the South Korean giant this year will be "3D enabled."

But in a rare admission that 3D TV has not yet caught on in a big way with consumers Baxter said "we know there still isn't enough content to make 3D a 'must have' feature."

While 3D TV may not yet have gone mainstream, more television sets rolling off the manufacturing lines are able to connect to the Internet.

The CEA's DuBravac said 12 percent of the TV sets sold in the United States in 2010 were Internet-enabled but nearly half of all televisions shipping this year will be able to tap into the Web.

Some of them will even be voice-controlled -- welcome news for anyone who has ever struggled with the bewildering array of buttons on a TV remote control.

Also grabbing attention is Microsoft, which is making its final appearance at CES.

Microsoft chief executive Ballmer or his predecessor, Bill Gates, have delivered the opening keynote address at CES for the past 15 years and the US software giant has traditionally had one of the largest booths on the exhibition floor.

But Microsoft has said this year's show will be its last because the January timing does not coincide with its product development calendar.

WWDC2009 was surely full of many interesting surprises as Apple has unveiled a lineup of Macbooks with improved specifications and most importantly - lower prices.
